Rules of Bushy Park - 5th June 2008
Some people have been complaining about lack of refuse bins in Bushy Park. It has been pointed out by the management of Bushy Park that everything you bring into the park must be taken back out with you. Rubbish bins are not ecologically sound and litter causes serious problems for the wildlife in the parks. You would not expect to find rubbish bins on a walk through the a wild Scottish forest, which is another place you would find red deer roaming free, now would you? Besides, now recycling has become such an important issue, you can't possibly expect the rangers in the parks to sort through all your refuse in order to recycle it!

Dogs are most welcomed in Bushy Park but there are severe penalties for allowing your dog to worry the deer and always take bags with you to clear up your dogs mess.

To learn more about Bushy Park regulations visit: www.royalparks.org.uk/regulations.cfm. For other information about the park please visit our Bushy Park page

Anyone for bowls? - 27th May 2008
Would-be bowlers are being given the opportunity to learn the skills of the game with free tuition sessions to be held at Hampton Bowling Club in Carlisle Park, Wensleydale Road, Hampton. This is a hidden treasure of a park which is well used by local residents.
Why not try your hand at one or all of our informal lessons on four Sunday mornings at 10am on May 11th 18th 25th June 1st

Bowls is a sport which provides gentle healthy exercise which can be continued long after other sports may be too energetic for some. It also provides an opportunity to make new friends.

We enthusiastically welcome bowlers of all ages, whether they are newcomers or already familiar with the sport. New bowlers are asked to wear flat shoes, but bowls will be provided. Our youngest member is 16 and already a rising star, our eldest over 90.
Just turn up, or for more information ring: Algernon Alexander 020 8941 0005 or Sylvia Graville 020 8979 3668

Vandals in Bushy Park - 26th May 2008

Irresponsible Vandals - 22nd May 2008
If you have any information about the graffiti that appeared in Fulwell Train Station passageway on 15th May 2008 please let Richmond Council know about it. There may be a reward of up to £1,000 for information which leads to arrest and conviction of the culprit.

'Operation Blunt'- 22nd May 2008
This has been set up to tackle the recent increase in violent & deadly youth crime in London. Police officers have been given increased powers to carry out stop & search on individuals in the hope of seizing weapons and drugs from potential perpetrators to prevent these crimes before they take place. This commenced on the 19th May 2008 in The Borough of Richmond and the police have set up 'Knife Arches' in strategic places which will detect metal. You may be asked to walk through one of these detectors somewhere on your travels but, as the reason behind them is to prevent more deaths of youths on our streets, it is a small inconvenience considering the hopeful outcome. Any concerns about this can be addressed to the Safer Neighbourhood Team.
Phone: 020 8721 2911 Mobile: 07879 431303 - Email the Safer Neighbourhood Team

Free Bicycle Marking in Bushy Park - 22nd May 2008
On Saturdays when the weather is fine around 4-6pm the Safer Neighbourhood Team are available just inside the Hampton Hill New Gate (the one near to the Hampton Hill Hardware) to mark your bike free of charge. This is now done with a paint on the underside of the frame which is only visible under a UV light. When you find your bicycle stolen you report it giving the police your password and this helps them identify your bicycle instantly should it be found. They recently marked 32 bicycles in just two hours so pop along and get yours done too. Well worth taking advantage of!
