New chairman at the time, Colin Keates, was delighted and said: "I am sure that given the commitment and enthusiasm shown tonight we are now in a very strong position to keep the Hampton Hill Association well and truly on the map. We will take up the challenge and it is our intention to preserve and enrich Hampton Hill." The group had reached crisis point in 2004 - its 40th year - and looked set to disband if new committee members were not found. For some years, it had not been possible to attract younger members of the community to take on roles within the various committees and on the executive committee. The current members had put many years of hard work into the association and felt they can do no more. Hampton Hill Cllr Malcolm Eady said: "It is often very difficult to persuade busy people to become involved in community activities, but once they realised the danger of the association closing they volunteered their services. "The HHA plays a very valuable role in the community and I value their assistance in keeping an eye' on development in the area and the desire for better community facilities." 2006 It was decided to bring stronger awareness to the Hampton Hill Association and it's mission by producing a comprehensive community website for the residents of Hampton Hill. A search ensued for a competent local resident to produce the required website. 2007 In November, a local resident & web designer with seven years experience, Helen Hurley, volunteered for the new role of Web Development Committee Member and produced this website incorporating her invention of a "Virtual Stroll" along the Hampton Hill High Street and side roads. The site has taken many hours to produce and we hope that all residents will use it constantly to find everything they may need locally as well as gain a better understanding of the Hampton Hill Association role in the community and, hopefully, join us.
